Around the World

An Around the World Party is your chance to promote world peace and understanding between your friends and acquaintances. It is also your chance to sample some of the best beers and liquors from around the world without ever leaving the comfort of your own little sphere of influence. Yes this party is a travel agents nightmare. Where else can you visit at least five different countries without ever having to board a plane? You will need a passport however, don't worry photos are not required.

The idea of an Around the World Party is quite simple, it is in the execution of said party that the challenge is found. It is up to you as to what kind of host/travel agent you want to be. If you want to go all out then your guests will leave culturally enriched. If you want to give them the budget package deal then they might go home without ever really feeling like they left.

To begin with you need a house with enough rooms in it to allow for at least five different countries with each room representing a different country. You can try and have as many different countries as you like, it all depends on how much work you want to put into it and how much room you have. Once you have the location and a few rooms you can use you need to do a little research into each of the countries that you choose to represent. You also should know that Muslim countries do not drink alcohol so choosing Saudi Arabia as a country would be just silly.

After you have selected your countries and done a little quick research on them it is time to prepare the rooms. Each room should be decorated to represent one of the countries you have selected. You should maybe hang posters of the country the room represents, and you should try and put some souvenirs or other ornaments from the appropriate country. For example if one room represents Mexico then you should hang Mexican blankets and other items from Mexico in the room. Also you should attempt to have Mexican music playing in that room, a Mariachi band might take up too much room however. Mexican food should be served as appetizers in the room and most importantly alcohol exclusively from Mexico should be served in the room. Tequila, Kaluaha, and Corona beer for example. You get the idea don't you?

Each room needs to be decorated to represent a different country. Food, Music and Alcohol from that country should be present. If you really want to be authentic you can have someone in each room to serve the food and drink. That person should be dressed in the traditional costume of the country they are representing. If they can speak in the accent of the country they are supposed to be from then so much the better. This is a party whose success depends on how much effort is put into it. To add realism you can make up passports that each guest must present upon entering a different country. The host in each room can stamp the passport to prove that the guest has indeed been around the world. If you do this party right then by the end of the night your guests should be weary from their world travels and should feel as if they have learned something. Even if that something is a greater appreciation for the different alcohol's of the world.
